Etsy Store News

So I have been toying with the idea of opening an Etsy shop for quite awhile now and I finally decided to go for it.  I will mostly be selling my cards, but also the occasional altered art project, the hairbows I just started making and whatever else strikes my fancy.  My goal is to at least support my craft habit and possibly make some extra for my family.  I added an Etsy Mini to the side of this blog so feel free to check it out.  If you are a veteran Etsy-er(yes I made that word up) I would love feedback, constructive or otherwise.  I do want to change my shop banner and Ihave a ton more things to add to my shop, but at least I finally got it stated

Scrap Tiffany Challenge time

Scrap tiffany Challenge time
It's sketch challenge time over at Scrap Tiffany.  We were given a layout sketch to follow created by our very own Bev

Being on the card team, I was asked to turn this sketch into a card.  I started out with some hot pink cardstock from American Crafts.  The black is also AC and the white is Georgia Pacific from Walmart.  The zebra print was from my stash and the glitter paper was a gift so I can't give you specifics on those.  The star is cut on my Cricut from the Indie Art cartridge and the sentiment was cut with the Cricut and my Gypsy from Smiley Cards.  The marquee shapes which I used in places of the circles in the sketch are from Storybook and were modified ont he Gypsy.  The stamp shape was from Sentimentals.  I added a bit of doodling/faux stitching with my white pen and used my piercer bugs to line it up properly and a rhinestone with my Irock to complete this card.  The embossing folder used I belive is called Stars, but not positive.

So what can you win.  How about a $25 gift certificate to Sierra Metal Designs.  Send in your projects to Tiffany@ScrapTiffany.com by January 30th, and you will be entered into a Drawing for a $25 gift certificate from Sierra Metal Designs.

Last NSSS challenge

Well this is the last of my entries into the NSSS challenges this weekend.  I got to all of them except for one of our LO sketches, which I did start, but then fr some reason decided to start cleaning my area in the middle of it and then just lost interest.  But at least papers are picked out and I will be ready to go with a clean space next time I go out there

Giveaway Time and Alter It

It's time for a super fab challenge over at Sugar Sweet Paper Treats and you won't believe the prize!  It's Deborah's turn to offer up the challenge and she is giving away the exclusive French Manor Cartridge for the Cricut.  All you need to do is alter something, anything.  My project was to alter this picture frame.  I have had this idea for a homemade message board brewign in my mind for a few months now, but I just couldn't figure out how to do it and my hubby did not want to help me cut some wood I was going to use.  So then I remembered the stack of frames that I shoved under my bed when we repainted 3 years ago.  I sanded this one down and then applied three coats of acrylic paint.  Then I cut down a sheet of chipboard from the back of a paper stack to 8x10 inches to fit inside the frame.  I used hot glue to cover it with fabric and then started criss-crossing some ribbon.  The ribbon is only glued to the back, and not glued at all to the front.  This will allow me to slkip things in.  Then I used wire cutters to nip the prongs off of some glittery brads and hot glued those to the ribbon to finish it off.
Then all I needed to do was embellish.  I made this flower out of some scraps of white cardstock by tearing the paper into strips and then just rolling, twisting and hot gluing until it reached the desired size.  I then spritzed this with Smooch Vanilla apray, added some accents with Smooch Moonlight paint and then added a touch of Stardust Stickles(especially to cover up the glue that was showing).  The leaves were cut with my Cricut and the accent Essentials cartridge with papers from my scrap stash.  The bottom layer was inked with Memento Dew Drop Ink in New Sprout and then after adding the second layer I doodled and inked the edges with Cat's Eye Dark Brown.  Then I covered the leaves with Crackle Effects by Ranger.  The flourish was made on my gypsy by taking a simple swirl and copying and flipping and welding until I liked it. I am really quite happy with my end result.

So for your chance to win a French Manor cartridge(not for sale anywhere-exclusive to Cricut Circle members) just head over to Sugar Sweet Paper Treats and link up your altered project before the end of the month.  Speaking of giveaways, ScrapTiffany has a great one going on now too.  Head on over to the blog and scroll down to the January 3rd post for all the details(it's a bit long winded, but if you can handle all my rambling then you can handle Tiffany's winkwink)

Happy Scrappy New year and a scraplift challenge

I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year's celebration.  We went to our church to play games and pray in the new year.  Here is my daughter with a fun party crown she made.  Today is a new day a new year and a whole new look over at Scrap Tiffany.  As one of the newest members of the design team I have to say I am super excited about the new look and today's new challenge.  We were asked to get to know our fellow designers by visiting their blogs and scraplifting from one of them.  Now I love, love, love to scraplift so this was going to be easy for me.  I fell in love with so many of the layouts and finally chose this one by Sophie who is French.

Now because I am on the card team I needed to make some adjustments.  What I loved so much about this layout was the colors, the shapes and the feel of it.  So I went for it.

I made this little hello card with the same color scheme and even copied the shape of the bottom by welding a marquee shape from the Storybook cricut cartridge to a rectangle on my Gypsy.  The paper was all from my stash, the plaid is unknown, the pink flower is Cherry Blossom from Recollections(Michael's store brand) and was purchased on clearance for 19 cents a sheet, the Green dot is Doodlebug, the loops is DCWV The Sweet Mat Stack.  Butterflies were cut on my Gypsy with the Indie Art Cart and a tiny scrap of Sweet and Sour specialty paper from Stampin' Up.  The turquoise paper is from my scrap pile.  With the circle I made some scores in it and folded along the lines, then sanded to show off the white core and then flattened it back out, and on the word {hi} I covered it with Turquoise stickles.  The diagonal stripe paper is actually embossed in the cuttlebug.

I hope you enjoyed my first project for Scrap Tiffany.  I hope you will head over and check out all of the other designers.  If you would like to play along with us, just scraplift away, then send Tiffany an email by clicking on the email buton on her page.  She may even feature your project on the blog!
